RIM decided to respond to Apple's $100,000,000 "iFund" by simply creating their own $150,000,000 "BlackBerry Partners Fund" together with RBC and Thomson Reuters. The fund will invest in companies that will develop new mobile applications and services for the BlackBerry platform or are in current stages of development.
